      Buying Sako in Australia

Magnum Sports lists 278 Sako products with around 193 available today: 26 Sako rifles in stock from the S20 Hunter at $2,211 through the Sako 90 Hunter, Finnlight, Adventure, Bavarian and Peak, the switch-barrel Sako 100 in wood or carbon, to the TRG 22, TRG 42, TRG A1 and TRG M10 precision rifles up to $22,100, plus Sako ammunition (Gamehead, Powerhead Blade, Super Hammerhead and TRG Precision loads), Optilock rings and bases, S20 and Sako 90 magazines and muzzle brakes.

Sako rifles are made in Riihimaki, Finland alongside Tikka and are imported by Beretta Australia. In NSW a Sako centrefire is a Category B firearm requiring a licence with a genuine reason, a Permit to Acquire and safe storage; the S20, 90 and 100 are bolt actions available to recreational hunters and target shooters. Sako ammunition is sold in store only to holders of a licence for that calibre and is not posted.

The most popular Sako calibres on our racks are .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30-06, .270 Win, .300 Win Mag and .223 Rem. A Sako 90 Hunter or Finnlight in .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor ($3,799) is the classic Australian deer rifle; the S20 ($2,211 to $3,699) gives a chassis-style modular stock; the TRG 22 A1 ($13,800) is the precision choice for long-range competition.

      Common questions

What is the difference between the Sako 90, S20 and Sako 100?
The Sako 90 is the traditional Sako hunting rifle (successor to the 85) with a classic stock, controlled-round feed and models from the lightweight Finnlight to the walnut Bavarian. The S20 is a modular bolt action with a chassis that converts between hunter and precision stocks. The Sako 100 is a switch-barrel rifle that lets one action run several calibres. All are Category B in NSW.
How much does a Sako rifle cost in Australia?
At Magnum Sports the S20 Hunter starts at $2,211, the Sako 90 Hunter and Finnlight are $3,799, the 90 Adventure $4,711, the 90 Peak $6,899, the Sako 100 from $7,625, the TRG 22 from $7,999 and the TRG 22 A1 $13,800 (September 2026 prices).
What licence do I need to buy a Sako rifle in NSW?
A NSW firearms licence with Category B (for centrefire bolt actions) and a Permit to Acquire for the specific rifle, plus compliant safe storage, which is inspected before the PTA issues under the 2026 rules. The TRG series are bolt actions and remain Category B.
Can I buy Sako ammunition online?
Sako Gamehead, Powerhead Blade, Super Hammerhead and TRG Precision ammunition is sold in store only at Roseville Chase to holders of a licence covering that calibre; we do not post ammunition.
Do you ship Sako rifles interstate?
Yes, dealer-to-dealer anywhere in Australia. Supply your state licence and Permit to Acquire, nominate a receiving licensed dealer and we transfer the rifle for handover there.
