1. About this policy

This policy explains how Impact Sports AU Pty Ltd trading as Magnum Sports collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and by the record-keeping requirements of the Firearms Act 1996 (NSW) and Firearms Regulation.

2. What we collect

2.1 Contact and account details. Name, postal and email address, phone numbers, and website account details.

2.2 Licence and permit details. Firearms licence number, category and expiry; Permit to Acquire details; and, where relevant, letters of authority, grant of probate, letters of administration or other documents establishing authority to deal with firearms.

2.3 Transaction details. Goods and services purchased, prices paid, payment method (we do not store full card numbers), order and service history, and details of firearms bought, sold, stored, transferred or consigned, including make, model, calibre and serial number.

2.4 Website data. Pages visited, device and browser type, IP address and cookies, collected through our website platform and analytics tools.

2.5 We collect this information directly from you, from documents you provide, from the NSW Firearms Registry where we are required to verify licence or permit status, and from our website when you use it.

3. Why we collect it

We collect and use personal information to:

  • supply goods and services you order and process payments;
  • verify that a sale, transfer, storage or other dealing is lawful;
  • keep the dealer records we are required by law to keep;
  • contact you about orders, balances due, items ready for collection, storage fees and notices under our policies;
  • respond to your enquiries and manage warranty and returns;
  • send you marketing about products and services, where you have agreed or would reasonably expect it, and you can opt out at any time; and
  • operate, secure and improve our website and store.

4. Who we disclose it to

4.1 Regulators. We disclose licence, permit and firearm details to the NSW Firearms Registry and NSW Police as required by the Firearms Act 1996 (NSW), and to interstate registries or dealers where a firearm is transferred interstate.

4.2 Service providers. Our website and point-of-sale platform, payment processors, email and SMS providers, carriers, and IT and accounting providers, to the extent needed to provide their services to us. Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States.

4.3 Manufacturers and distributors. Where you make a warranty claim, we disclose your name, contact details and product details to the manufacturer or distributor so the claim can be processed.

4.4 Consignment sales. Where you buy a consignment item, the owner’s name is available to you on request. Where you consign an item, we disclose your name to the buyer on request and to the Registry for the transfer.

4.5 Otherwise only where you consent, where required or authorised by law, or where needed to enforce our terms or recover a debt.

5. How long we keep it

Dealer records, including licence details and firearm transaction records, are kept for the periods required by the Firearms Act 1996 (NSW) and Firearms Regulation. Records of the disposal of uncollected goods are kept for the periods required by the Uncollected Goods Act 1995 (NSW). Other personal information is kept while we need it for the purposes above and for tax and accounting purposes, then destroyed or de-identified.

6. Security

Personal information is held in secured systems and, for paper records, in locked storage at our premises. Access is limited to staff who need it. No system is completely secure, and you should keep your website account password confidential.

7. Access and correction

You may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing sales@magnumsports.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity before releasing information. We cannot alter or delete records we are required by law to keep.

8. Cookies and website

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the store, remember your cart and login, and measure site usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

9. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us at sales@magnumsports.com.au or (02) 9882 2689. We will investigate and respond in writing. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is published on our website with its effective date.
