Much of it is. Winchester Australia manufactures rimfire and centrefire ammunition at its Geelong, Victoria plant, and imports the rest of the range from the USA. That local production is why Winchester .22 LR, .223 and .308 are usually the easiest ammunition to keep in stock.
What licence do I need for a Winchester rifle in NSW?
The Model 70 and XPR bolt actions and the 1873, 1892, 1894 and 1895 lever actions are Category B (centrefire, not self-loading). The XPERT .22 bolt action and the Ranger .22 LR lever action are Category A. The SXR2 is a self-loading centrefire rifle and therefore Category D, which is only available to primary producers and professional shooters.
