The RIX Optics LEAP is a thermal riflescope with continuous optical zoom and a laser rangefinder built into the lens, feeding its ballistic calculator.
The LEAP L12R pairs a 1280 × 1024 thermal sensor with a 60 mm, F1.0 lens, rated by RIX to detect at up to 3,100 m and range targets out to 1,200 m. Battery life is quoted at 6.5 h and it is IP67 rated.

- Continuous optical zoom – floating-lens zoom group gives smooth magnification without digital pixelation: 3.2-9.6× (L3R), 2.8-8.4× (L6R), 2-6× (L12R), plus digital zoom.
- Lens-integrated LRF to 1200 m – laser and optical axes are aligned inside the objective for ±1 m ranging without separate calibration; feeds the built-in ballistic calculator.
- Sensor and lens options – 384 × 288 35 mm F0.9 (L3R), 640 × 480 50 mm F0.9 (L6R) - NETD <20 mK, 50 Hz; L12R uses a 1280 × 1024 sensor, NETD <15 mK, 60 Hz with a 60 mm F1.0 lens.
- AMOLED eyepiece – 1920 × 1080 on L3R/L6R; L12R has a round 1.03-inch 2560 × 2560 AMOLED for a traditional scope-like view. 50 mm eye relief.
- Large knobs and buttons – three large knobs and two oversized buttons work in the dark or with gloves; L12R maps each knob to one on-screen function.
- Return to Center (RTC) and fine reticle – reticle re-centres on the Y axis after zeroing; L3R/L6R zero in 0.35 MOA steps.
- Recoil rated to 1000 g – RIX rates LEAP for calibres such as .375 H&H, 12-gauge and 9.3×64; IP67, mounts in 30 mm rings with a Picatinny QD mount supplied.
- Recording and RIX+ app – 1280 × 720 (L3R/L6R, 32 GB) or 1280 × 1280 (L12R, 64 GB) photo/video; Wi-Fi streaming and firmware updates.

How far can the LEAP L12R see?
RIX rates detection at 3,100 m — the distance at which a heat source shows on screen. Recognising what an animal is happens closer than that, and rain, fog and high humidity all shorten thermal range.
