Our full firearms range: centrefire and rimfire rifles, shotguns, handguns and air rifles, new and pre-owned, from the brands Australian hunters and target shooters actually use.
What you can buy depends on your licence category and your genuine reason. Category A covers rimfire rifles, air rifles and break-action shotguns. Category B adds centrefire rifles and pump or lever-action shotguns. Category C and D are tightly restricted and generally limited to primary producers and professional shooters. Category H covers handguns and requires club membership and participation records in most states.
Every firearm requires a Permit to Acquire from your state registry before we can transfer it, and all sales move dealer to dealer. Interstate customers nominate a local dealer for collection. Common questions
Can I buy a gun online in Australia?
Yes, through a licensed dealer. You order online from Magnum Sports, provide your firearms licence and Permit to Acquire, and the firearm is either collected in person at Roseville Chase or transferred dealer-to-dealer to a licensed dealer near you, who completes the paperwork and hands it over. Firearms are never posted directly to a home address.
What licence do I need to buy a rifle, shotgun or pistol in NSW?
Category A for air rifles, rimfire rifles and break-action shotguns; Category B for centrefire rifles, muzzle-loaders and lever-action shotguns with a capacity of five rounds or fewer; Category C (primary producers) for pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns and semi-auto rimfires; Category H for pistols, which requires membership of an approved pistol club. Each firearm also needs its own Permit to Acquire.
How much does a gun cost in Australia?
At Magnum Sports air rifles and pre-owned rimfires start around $195 to $400, new rimfire rifles $400 to $1,000, centrefire hunting rifles $600 to $5,000, shotguns $700 to $8,000 for competition grades, and club pistols $950 to $3,000. Add a safe ($559 up), a scope and ammunition to a first-firearm budget.
How long does a Permit to Acquire take in NSW?
Allow several weeks. Since 1 July 2026 the Firearms Registry also verifies your safe storage before a PTA is issued, so have your safe installed and bolted before applying. First-category acquisitions carry a mandatory waiting period. We can hold a firearm for you while your PTA is processed.
How many firearms can I own in NSW?
Under the 2026 reforms most recreational licence holders are limited to four firearms. Licence holders with sport or target shooting, vertebrate pest control, primary production or occupational genuine reasons may hold up to ten. Dealer and collector licences are not capped. Check the current NSW Police guidance before you buy, as the regulations are still being finalised.
Do you ship firearms interstate?
Yes. We transfer firearms to licensed dealers in every state and territory. You provide your state's Permit to Acquire and nominate a receiving dealer; we ship to that dealer and they complete the handover. Freight and the receiving dealer's transfer fee apply.
