Hornady 338 calibre crimp-on gas checks are for shooters who cast their own .338" bullets and want to drive them harder without leading the bore. Supplied 1,000 to the box.

The check crimps onto the base of the cast bullet during sizing, sealing powder gas behind the bullet and protecting the soft lead base from deformation and gas cutting. That lets a cast bullet be loaded to higher velocity with cleaner shooting and better accuracy than a plain-base bullet allows. Use with a gas-check-shank bullet mould in 338 calibre.
