The Hornady 38 calibre 180 gr XTP is a handgun projectile for handgun hunting and target work. It measures .357" in diameter with a G1 ballistic coefficient of .230, and it suits handgun hunters and target shooters.

The XTP is a jacketed hollow point designed to expand reliably across the wide velocity range handgun cartridges produce, while still penetrating deeply. Precise serrations divide the nose into symmetrical sections that weaken the jacket in a controlled way, the drawn gilding-metal jacket varies in thickness down the bullet to govern expansion, and the swaged core is uniform in density for balanced expansion and in-flight stability. No lead is exposed at the nose, which protects the cavity and helps feeding in semi-automatics; revolver weights carry a cannelure for a consistent crimp.
