Muzzleloader hunters and target shooters in 44 calibre can load these Hornady .433" pure-lead round balls with a patch or as a compression fit, depending on the bore. Hornady cold-swages them from pure lead, which removes the air pockets and voids that cast balls often carry.

Because each ball is swaged rather than poured, the diameter, weight and roundness are held uniform across the box, and the smoother surface takes the patch evenly for better rotation and more consistent groups. Pure lead keeps the ball soft enough to obturate in a traditional bore. Before you choose a diameter, check the bore of your firearm and whether you load a patched ball or a compression fit, as the two call for different sizes.
