The Hornady 50 calibre (.500") 300 gr FTX bullet is a Flex Tip handgun hunting projectile made for the 500 S&W Magnum, and it suits hunters who take medium game with a big-bore revolver. It carries a G1 ballistic coefficient of .200 and a sectional density of .171.

The soft polymer Flex Tip compresses into the bullet on impact to start expansion across a wide velocity range, so the FTX opens reliably at revolver speeds and at the longer distances a scoped 500 S&W is used at. Its one-piece high-antimony lead core is locked to the jacket by the InterLock ring for weight retention and deep penetration, and the spitzer profile flies flatter than a flat-nose bullet of the same weight. Hornady rates it for medium game.
