Sub-X (Subsonic eXpanding) is designed to expand below the speed of sound. A lead core sits inside a gilding-metal jacket with long grooves, and the patented Flex Tip insert in the hollow-point cavity, together with the flat profile, helps it open at velocities as low as 900 ft/s. Cannelures give a positive crimp, which suits semi-automatic and gas-operated rifles, and the design meets FBI protocol terminal test requirements.
