The Hornady bullet comparator body is the anvil that clamps to a caliper blade and carries the calibre inserts, for handloaders who want to measure loaded rounds from the ogive rather than the bullet tip. This is the body only.

Measuring across bullet tips can vary by .025" from round to round; the comparator measures from the ogive, the part that meets the rifling, so seating depth and bullet uniformity can be checked repeatably. It aligns a Lock-N-Load OAL gauge for a precise reading, and the same body also takes the headspace bushings. Inserts for individual calibres are sold separately.
