The Hornady Lock-N-Load headspace comparator kit with body measures the shoulder position of bottleneck cases before and after firing or sizing, for handloaders who want to bump shoulders by a known amount rather than guess. This kit includes the comparator body and five bushings.
The body clamps to a caliper blade and the bushing bears on the case shoulder, so you can compare fire-formed brass with sized brass and set the sizing die to move the shoulder only a thousandth or two. That extends case life, improves accuracy and keeps headspace safe. The five bushings cover most bottleneck cases from 17 Rem to the belted magnums; Ackley Improved chambers use the parent case bushing. To pick a bushing, average the neck and shoulder diameters and choose the nearest size.
