For measuring seating depth in a 30 Nosler chamber, this Hornady Lock-N-Load modified case is the cartridge-specific part of the OAL gauge system, letting you find the lands with the very bullet you intend to load.

Each modified case is a real case made to SAAMI dimensions, threaded at the head to screw onto the gauge and with the neck opened up about .002" so the bullet slides freely. Push the bullet forward until it stops against the lands, lock the gauge and measure with a bullet comparator to read a true base-to-ogive length. A few thousandths of change in jump can be the difference between average and very good groups. Fits both the straight and curved OAL gauges.
