The Hornady spindle lock is the collet nut that clamps the Zip Spindle in a Hornady Custom Grade sizing die, for handloaders replacing a lost or damaged lock or updating an older die to the Zip Spindle system.

The lock and spindle carry a series of fine threads that stop the spindle slipping under decapping load while still allowing small adjustments, or a quick "zip" up or down for larger moves. It is the spindle lock included in Hornady's Zip Spindle kits and fits all Zip Spindle sizing dies.
