Loading on a single-stage press starts with the right shell holder, and Hornady #47 is the one for the cartridges Hornady lists under that number. It fits Hornady Classic, Classic Pro and Iron presses as well as other standard presses and the Cam Lock trimmer.

Hornady machines its shell holders from solid steel and heat-treats them, with a wide mouth and rounded edge at the opening so cases slide in without catching.
