Magnum Sports lists 22 Remington 700 configurations: the ADL and ADL Varmint, the SPS family (standard, Compact, Youth, Varmint, Tactical, Blued Synthetic and Stainless Synthetic), the BDL and CDL (Blued, Stainless and SF Stainless), the Varmint SF, Long Range HS, Sendero SF II and the Alpha 1 Hunter. Calibres run from .223 Rem and .22-250 through .243, 6.5 Creedmoor, .270, 7mm-08 and .308 to .30-06, 7mm Rem Mag and .300 Win Mag.

The 700 is a bolt-action centrefire and Category B in NSW: a firearms licence with a hunting, sport shooting or primary production reason, a Permit to Acquire and compliant storage.
