For 22 centrefires such as the 223 Rem and 22-250, the Sierra #9377 77 grain 22 calibre (.224) MatchKing is a proven hollow point boat tail that competitive shooters have relied on for years. The 77 grain #9377 was designed for Service Rifle competition in the AR-15 and can be seated to an overall length that still fits AR magazines, which is why it has set so many national records.

MatchKing jackets are drawn thin and held to very tight concentricity, with a small hollow point meplat that keeps weight and balance consistent from bullet to bullet. Sierra specifies a barrel twist of 1:8 in or faster for this bullet. They are a target design: Sierra does not recommend MatchKings for most hunting, and on varmints they will not open as reliably as the lighter-jacketed VarmintKing and BlitzKing bullets.
