Sierra's 175 grain 30 calibre (.308) MatchKing (#2275) is a hollow point boat tail built for the 308 Win, 30-06 and other 30 calibre cartridges, and it carries the accuracy reputation that has made the MatchKing a standard in competition. Sierra developed the 175 grain #2275 in 1995 with military ordnance staff for the M21, M24 and M40A1 sniper systems; its higher ballistic coefficient over the 168 grain lets it stay supersonic to 1000 yards from a 308 Win service rifle.

MatchKing jackets are drawn thin and held to very tight concentricity, with a small hollow point meplat that keeps weight and balance consistent from bullet to bullet. They are a target design: Sierra does not recommend MatchKings for most hunting, and on varmints they will not open as reliably as the lighter-jacketed VarmintKing and BlitzKing bullets.
