A hollow point boat tail for the 303 British and other .311 bore rifles, the 174 grain Sierra MatchKing #2315 is aimed at the target shooter and reloader who wants repeatable groups rather than a hunting bullet. The 174 grain #2315 was designed for the 303 Lee-Enfield service rifle and has a loyal following among military rifle competitors in Australia, Britain and Canada.

MatchKing jackets are drawn thin and held to very tight concentricity, with a small hollow point meplat that keeps weight and balance consistent from bullet to bullet. They are a target design: Sierra does not recommend MatchKings for most hunting, and on varmints they will not open as reliably as the lighter-jacketed VarmintKing and BlitzKing bullets. Sierra introduced this bullet in 1996.
