A jacketed soft point for the 45 ACP and 45 Colt, the 300 grain Sierra Sports Master #8830 is Sierra's expanding handgun bullet for field and range use. The 300 grain #8830 is the heaviest bullet in Sierra's 45 handgun range, with a heavy jacket and hard core for deep penetration in the 45 Colt and 454 Casull on large game.

Sports Master bullets use Sierra's skived Power Jacket over a lead core, which opens reliably at handgun velocities while holding together for penetration; they are a sound choice for handgun hunting, silhouette and general target work in revolvers, pistols and pistol-calibre rifles. Sierra introduced this bullet in 2004.
