The Sierra 9947 is a 147 grain 9mm (.355) V-Crown jacketed hollow point, a handgun bullet developed with Sig Sauer for the 9mm Luger and other .355 handgun cartridges. The 147 grain #9947 is the heavyweight of the V-Crown line, giving subsonic velocities from the 9mm Luger, which makes it a natural match for suppressed or short-barrelled rifles and pistol-calibre carbines in that chambering.

The V-Crown design stacks a second hollow point cavity behind the first and adds a locking groove, so the bullet expands in a controlled way while retaining weight, all with Sierra's usual accuracy.
