A hollow point boat tail for the 243 Win and other 6mm cartridges, the 70 grain Sierra MatchKing #1505 is aimed at the target shooter and reloader who wants repeatable groups rather than a hunting bullet. The 70 grain #1505 built its reputation as the bullet to beat in centrefire benchrest out to 400 yards and remains a standard for the 6mm BR and 6mm PPC.

MatchKing jackets are drawn thin and held to very tight concentricity, with a small hollow point meplat that keeps weight and balance consistent from bullet to bullet. They are a target design: Sierra does not recommend MatchKings for most hunting, and on varmints they will not open as reliably as the lighter-jacketed VarmintKing and BlitzKing bullets. Sierra introduced this bullet in 1974.
