The Hornady Lock-N-Load OAL Gauge, curved model, measures the cartridge overall length at which a bullet touches the rifling in your chamber, which is the starting point for tuning seating depth. The curved version is made for autoloaders, lever-actions and pump rifles where the chamber is reached through the ejection port, and it also works in bolt-actions and single-shots.

A modified case (sold separately) threads onto the gauge, the bullet you intend to load is placed in its oversized neck, and the assembly is pushed into the chamber until the bullet touches the lands. Hornady states the reading is accurate to .001". The curved gauge is not compatible with Adapter D or short-bodied cases.
