For applying solvent or oil to a .22 bore: the Tetra Gun ProSmith bore mop in .22. The mop soaks up bore solvent or gun lubricant and carries it down the bore evenly, then absorbs the loosened fouling; it washes out and is reusable. Tetra lists these as cotton mops (the product name says wool) and threads them 8/32 for standard rifle and pistol rods, with a shotgun fitting on the gauge sizes.

Tetra Gun products come from FTI Inc. in the USA and have been on the market for decades. Regular cleaning with correctly sized brushes, mops and patches keeps a rifle or shotgun accurate and rust-free between seasons.
