In NSW a .45 ACP 1911 or a .44 Magnum Anaconda can only be acquired with a large-calibre pistol permit tied to an approved competition such as metallic silhouette, single action or IPSC Classic division; the .357 Magnum Python sits inside the .38-calibre limit for general sport shooting. Every Colt needs a Permit to Acquire and a bolted steel safe, and 1911 magazines are limited to 10 rounds.
