Hornady's 6.5 PRC Precision Hunter round tops a 143 gr ELD-X and is intended for large game including sambar, red deer and scrub bulls. Hornady rates it at 2,960 ft/s from its test barrel with a G1 ballistic coefficient of .625. It suits hunters who want a match-accurate load that performs at every practical range.
Precision Hunter is loaded with the ELD-X bullet and Heat Shield tip, which keeps its shape and class-leading ballistic coefficient across the whole flight. At close range it expands continuously while the thick jacket shank and InterLock ring hold 50 to 60 percent of the weight; at long range the tip drives back to initiate expansion at lower velocity. Propellants are clean burning and loaded to uniform capacity for consistent results regardless of temperature.
