Hornady American Whitetail in 7mm Remington Magnum is a 139 gr SP InterLock load for large game including sambar, red deer and scrub bulls. Hornady rates it at 3,150 ft/s from its test barrel with a G1 ballistic coefficient of .392. It suits deer hunters who want a dependable conventional load.
American Whitetail is loaded with the InterLock bullet in weights that have been deer-hunting favourites for decades. The exposed lead tip and secant ogive give controlled expansion, and the InterLock ring keeps core and jacket together during expansion to retain mass and energy. Powder is matched to each load at conventional velocities so it also runs in semi-automatics, and cases and primers are selected for consistency.
