The Frankford Arsenal Cartridge Overall Length Gauge gives you a quick, reproducible way to find and record optimum cartridge overall length (OAL) using tools you likely already own. The kit uses two adjustable clamps that mount to a cleaning rod (1/4" diameter or less) to capture the exact distance from the bolt face to the bullet tip, so you can set or check seating depth during reloading.
- Two clamps attach to any cleaning rod 1/4" diameter or smaller, creating a physical gauge you can measure with calipers.
- Procedure uses the bolt face and a cleaning-rod tip: install the tip, insert the rod to the bolt face, fit one clamp, remove the bolt and place the projectile-only bullet into the chamber, hold it against the rifling, then install the second clamp.
- Measure the inside distance between clamps with calipers and record the OAL, or keep the assembled clamps as a go/no-go gauge for seating checks.
- Works on all rifles; complete instructions are included in the kit.
